Nueva Gerona

Nueva Gerona, the capital of Isla de la Juventud special municipality and province in Cuba, was founded in 1830 by Francisco Dionisio Vives, boasting a population of 59,049 as of 2012. Nestled between the Sierra de Caballos and Sierra de Casas mountains, it enjoys proximity to the Río Las Casas, offering a navigable waterway to the Caribbean Sea.
