Qeqertarsuaq

Qeqertarsuaq, once called Godhavn, is the main settlement on Disko Island, Greenland, founded by whalers in 1773. Archaeological evidence suggests human habitation dating back 5-6000 years. The town offers one hotel with a great restaurant, a local café, a museum, an arts and crafts gallery, and a large supermarket with diverse goods, including hunting equipment.

For souvenirs, Kuannit Art Gallery showcases works by local artist Kirsten Pedersen. The Qeqertarsuaq museum, located in the former bailiff's residence, focuses on the area's whaling and trade history. Open during summer (June to August), hours are 10 AM to 3 PM, and 11 AM to 2 PM on weekends.

Nearby, an eastern stroll reveals a stunning black sand beach with floating icebergs. Picnic tables offer relaxation amid captivating scenery. Hiking is popular with limited marked trails, including the must-try Kuannit trail, promising breathtaking views of Qeqertarsuaq's landscapes.
