Beypore, Beipur

Beypore, an ancient port town in Kerala's Kozhikode district, is located where the Chaliyar River meets the Arabian Sea. Historically significant for its shipbuilding industry, Beypore was once known as "Sultan Pattanam" by Tippu Sultan. The town is famous for the construction of traditional wooden ships called 'urus.'

Beypore Beach offers a scenic escape with a 1-kilometer stone walkway stretching into the sea. Explore the Beypore Lighthouse, guiding ships and offering panoramic views. Birdwatchers can visit the Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary, while those interested in local crafts can explore the TASARA Weaving Centre, promoting traditional textile weaving.

For a unique shopping experience, visit the Beypore Port Area to find items related to shipbuilding and maritime history, or explore local markets for traditional handicrafts and souvenirs. Street vendors offer a taste of local life with snacks like aval milk and Suleimani tea.

Unlike Kochi, Beypore's nightlife is more relaxed. Enjoy a peaceful evening stroll on the Beypore Beach promenade, savor local cuisine and beverages at beachside cafes, or try traditional Malabari dishes like Kozhikode biryani at local eateries.
