Mina
Al Ahmadi, located 50 kilometers south of Kuwait
City, is not your typical tourist destination. This massive complex houses
Kuwait's largest oil refinery, sprawling over 10.5 square kilometers.
Operational since 1949 and constantly expanding, Mina Al Ahmadi plays a crucial
role in Kuwait's economy, churning out roughly 466,000 barrels of oil daily.
While
not designed for sightseeing, the refinery itself might be fascinating for
visitors interested in industrial processes and large-scale infrastructure.
It's important to note that Mina Al Ahmadi is an industrial zone, and shopping
and nightlife are virtually nonexistent. However, the nearby Jamarat Bridge
plays a significant role during the Hajj pilgrimage, where Muslims perform the
ritual of stoning the Devil.
