Aden, Bandar At Tawahi

Aden, a port city boasting a long and complex history, is located on the Gulf of Aden.  It served as a major port on the Maritime Silk Road, facilitating trade between the East and Alexandria. Aden also ruled a small empire across from Africa, and in the 19th century, it became a British protectorate and later the capital of South Yemen.

Visitors can explore the Old City and the Crater District, with its stunning views and historic charm, including landmarks like Al-Hesn Palace. For shopping, the bustling Aden Souk provides a variety of traditional goods, from spices to handcrafted jewelry. Dining in Aden showcases Yemeni cuisine with dishes such as saltah and fresh seafood, reflecting the city’s coastal heritage. The nightlife is more subdued, centered around local cafes and social gatherings rather than vibrant entertainment scenes. Relaxing at Al-Mualla Beach offers a tranquil escape by the Red Sea. It’s important to remain aware of current conditions and travel advisories to ensure a safe visit.
