Mossel Bay, a harbor town situated on the Cape Saint Blaize peninsula, boasts a rich history dating back over 150,000 years.  Evidence of prehistoric humans and Khoekhoe herders has been unearthed in nearby caves. Bartolomeu Dias, a Portuguese navigator, was the first European to set foot here in 1488. The town itself was founded by British colonists in 1848.
