Al Burayqah, in
northeastern Libya on the Gulf of Sidra, is Libya's second-largest hydrocarbon complex. Designed by Greek architect Konstantinos
Apostolos Doxiadis, the town is built from prefabricated concrete parts and
consists of several settlements, including Old Brega and New Brega.
Al Burayqah's
significance lies in its role as a center for oil-related activities. The hydrocarbon complex is divided into
distinct areas, each with its own purpose and features. Al-Najm University of Technology, founded in
1981, contributes to the area's educational landscape.
