Baniyas

Baniyas, a Mediterranean coastal city, is known for its citrus orchards and export of wood.  Located north of the city is one of Syria's largest oil refineries.  Atop a nearby hill stands the imposing Margat Castle (Qalaat el-Marqab), a massive Knights Hospitaller fortress built with black basalt stone.

History comes alive as you explore the remnants of Qala’at Marqab (Ancient Ruins), a historic castle that has witnessed centuries of events. Another impressive fortress is Marqab Castle, a testament to the area's rich past.

While shopping options in Baniyas are limited, you can explore local markets and shops to find unique souvenirs and local treasures.  The city doesn't have a vibrant nightlife scene, but locals gather at cafes or small venues to connect and create positive memories.
