Famagusta, a city on the east coast of Northern Cyprus, boasts a rich tapestry of history dating back to ancient times. Originally founded around 274 BC, it was known as Arsinoe in antiquity and later by various names during the medieval period. The old town earned the nickname "City of 365 Churches" due to its peak, boasting a church for every day of the year, though many are now in ruins.
