Tulcea

Tulcea, a city in Romania situated on the banks of the Danube River, serves as the capital of Tulcea County.  This city is nicknamed the "gateway city to the Danube Delta" due to its strategic location as a starting point for exploring this unique natural reserve.  Many Danube Delta cruises and boat trips begin in Tulcea.

Explore Romanian culture and art at the Tulcea Art Museum, located at 2 Strada Grigore Antipa.  Delve into the fascinating history and biodiversity of the Danube Delta at the Danube Delta Museum.  This museum showcases the flora, fauna, and ecological significance of this UNESCO World Heritage Biosphere Reserve.

For a historical landmark, visit the impressive Orthodox church, Cathedral of Saint John the Theologian (Catedrala Sfântul Ioan Teologul Tulcea), perched on a hill.  Its neoclassical features and dominant tower make it a notable sight.  Admire the imposing Catedrala Sfântul Nicolae (St. Nicholas Cathedral) built in Byzantine style.  This cathedral houses historical artifacts and has a melodic bell.

Tulcea's nightlife caters more to relaxation than a bustling scene.  Enjoy a peaceful evening by the Danube or unwind at local bars and cafes after a day of exploring.
