Mangalia

Mangalia, a city and port on Romania's Black Sea Coast, boasts a rich past. Founded as the ancient Greek colony of Callatis in the 6th century BC, it became a Greek city-state. Conquered by the Romans in 72 BC, it regained importance as a trade hub and port city in the 4th century AD.  The town acquired its present name, Mangalia, in the 16th century.
