Porthmos Evripou, also known as the Euripus Strait, is a narrow waterway separating the island of Euboea from mainland Greece. This fascinating natural wonder stretches 8 kilometers in length and varies in width from 40 meters to 1.6 kilometers. The strait is renowned for its strong tidal currents, which can reach velocities of 12 knots and reverse direction several times a day. Legend has it that Aristotle himself drowned here, unable to solve the mystery of the currents.
