Perama

Perama, a charming coastal town and a suburb of Piraeus, offers a tranquil escape near Athens. Nestled on the southwest edge of the Aegaleo mountains, Perama overlooks the Saronic Gulf coast. Just 8 kilometers northwest of Piraeus and 14 kilometers west of Athens, Perama is a great place to experience a more relaxed atmosphere. As the western terminus of the Port of Piraeus, Perama also boasts a passenger port with ferry services to Salamis Island.

Perama's main attraction is the Perama Cave, one of Greece's largest and most impressive caves. For a historical touch, visit the Bay of Zea (Paşalimanı), the second-largest of Piraeus' three ports. Discover ancient walls, shipyard foundations, and a modern cityscape. The area's Ottoman history is reflected in its name, Paşalimanı, which translates to "bathing place of the Pashas" due to its past use by Ottoman officials.
