Ardrishaig

Ardrishaig, a village situated at the southern entrance to the Crinan Canal, is a perfect base to explore this scenic waterway.  Often nicknamed "Britain's most beautiful shortcut," the 9-mile canal cuts across the Kintyre Peninsula, connecting Loch Fyne to the Sound of Jura.  Around 2,000 boats navigate the canal annually, and it's a popular spot for cycling and walking.

Ardrishaig itself offers a charming harbor with two piers, a lighthouse, and a breakwater.  Learn more about the canal at the Scottish Canals office by the canal basin.  Stock up on essentials at the Morrisons Daily on Chalmers Street.

In the evening, mingle with the locals and enjoy a wide selection of malt whiskies at the Argyll Arms Hotel, or savor good value pub fare with a harbor view at the Grey Gull Hotel.
