Granton

Granton, a district north of Edinburgh, is situated along the Firth of Forth waterfront. Once a large industrial harbor area, Granton is undergoing a large-scale regeneration program. The name "Granton" first appeared in the 17th century, associated with the now-demolished Granton Castle. Today, visitors can explore the Madelvic House and Vehicle Production, the original office of The Madelvic Motor Carriage Company, or Granton Square, where the first tramline ran in 1909. The area boasts a rich railway history and a significant harbor, Granton Harbour. Granton House, a 24-room mansion built in 1807 by the Earl of Hopetoun, once stood near the current site.

For a more contemporary experience, Granton offers a variety of shops, including Morrisons supermarket, GO Outdoors for outdoor supplies, and Edinburgh Angling Centre for fishing equipment. The Anchor Inn, a charming Scottish bar, Copper Blossom with its live music, The Last Word cocktail bar, and The Antiquary Bar, a traditional pub in nearby Stockbridge, provide a range of nightlife options.
