Hansweert

Hansweert is located on the Zuid-Beveland peninsula in the municipality of Reimerswaal, Zeeland. The village has a rich history, first mentioned in 1353, and was once notable for the Hansweert-Walsoorden ferry connecting it to Walsoorden in Zeelandic Flanders. The Canal through Zuid-Beveland, opened in 1866, brought commercial traffic and prosperity to Hansweert. Despite changes due to the Scheldt–Rhine Canal, the village maintains an active community life.
