Vordingborg

Vordingborg, an old ferry town in Vordingborg Municipality, Denmark, with a population of around 12,000, is steeped in history and charm. The town's development is unique, with three satellite towns (former villages) emerging around Vordingborg due to the presence of three large estates.

Vordingborg Castle ruins, particularly the 26-meter-tall Goose Tower (Gåsetårnet), are the town's most famous attraction. This iconic tower is the largest of King Valdemar Atterdag's nine main castle towers and features a golden goose perched on top. Delve deeper into the region's history at the South Zealand Museum (Sydsjællands Museum). In July, the town comes alive with the annual Vordingborg Fest Week (Vordingborg Festuge), a vibrant celebration not to be missed.

Vordingborg offers various shopping opportunities, especially in the city center near the castle ruins. For a lively evening, head to The Old Irish Pub, a popular spot for drinks and socializing. Stars, a venue established in 1998, has become a cultural hub, hosting concerts featuring a diverse range of national and international artists.
