Mariehamn, the capital of Åland, is an autonomous territory under Finnish sovereignty. Founded in 1861, the city is home to roughly 12,000 residents. Its wide streets lined with linden trees reflect its Russian heritage.

Museumship Pommern, a beautifully preserved four-masted merchant barque, is a must-visit for history buffs. Åland Maritime Museum offers a state-of-the-art exploration of Åland’s maritime heritage.
