Storugns

Storugns, nestled on the northern coast of Gotland Island in the Baltic Sea, is anything but ordinary. This industrial hub is renowned for its colossal limestone quarry, one of the largest in Scandinavia. The extracted limestone is shipped across the Baltic Sea, serving as a vital building material for various destinations. Interestingly, a portion of the limestone is transformed into quicklime by KPAB, a subsidiary of Nordkalk.

Beyond its industrial significance, Storugns boasts captivating features. The imposing Storugns Wind Farm stands tall, harnessing the power of wind for renewable energy generation. The Storugns Port, owned by Partek Nordkalk Storugns AB, plays a crucial role in facilitating the transportation of limestone and other goods.

While Storugns may not be a traditional tourist destination, its unique blend of industry and renewable energy production offers a glimpse into a different side of Gotland.
