Akureyrarbær, also known as the “town of Akureyri”, holds the distinction of being the fifth largest municipality in Iceland and the biggest outside the Capital Region. Shopping centers in Akureyri operate from 9:00 to 6:00 on weekdays and 10:00 to 4:00 on weekends. Notable centers include Glerartorg and Sunnuhlíð. However, Kaupangur stands out as it remains open 24 hours a day.
