Karluk

Nestled on Kodiak Island, Karluk is a tiny community with a population of just over 30. Despite its size, Karluk boasts some of Alaska's most incredible natural wonders. The crown jewel is the Karluk River, widely recognized as the greatest sockeye salmon river in the world. This majestic waterway also attracts king salmon, Dolly Varden, steelhead, and rainbow trout, making it a dream destination for anglers.

Just a few miles inland lies Karluk Lake, another prime fishing spot. Beyond the bounty of its waters, Karluk offers opportunities to explore the surrounding Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge, home to the legendary Kodiak brown bear. History buffs can delve into the past at the Ascension of Our Lord Russian Orthodox Chapel, a designated National Historic Site built in 1888.
