Jazirat Halul
Jazirat
Halul, or Halul Island,
lies about 90 kilometers northeast of Doha, Qatar. This strategically important
island serves as a storage area and loading terminal for oil extracted from nearby
offshore fields. The Qatari Navy also maintains a base here.
While
its primary function is industrial, Halul Island boasts a rich maritime
heritage. In the early 1900s, pearling boats frequently visited its shores. The
island itself offers natural beauty, with stunning coastlines, crystal-clear
waters, and rugged terrain. A historic landmark, the Jazirat
Halul Lighthouse, stands as a silent guardian, guiding ships in the
Persian Gulf. The island's marine ecosystem is another treasure, waiting to be
explored. Coral reefs and diverse aquatic species thrive in these waters.
Shopping
options on Halul Island are limited due to its industrial focus. Visitors can
find basic necessities, but for a wider variety, exploring Doha or other
mainland areas is recommended. Nightlife is also scarce here. However, the lack
of light pollution creates a perfect environment for stargazing, allowing
visitors to marvel at the vast starry expanse.
