Mubarraz Oil Terminal
Situated
approximately 51 nautical miles west of Abu Dhabi, the Mubarraz
Oil Terminal on Mubarraz Island serves as a crucial
crude oil export terminal for the United Arab Emirates. This facility consists
of a Single Point Mooring (SPM) for tanker loading, an offshore Central
Facilities Platform (CFP), and onshore storage tanks. The terminal is operated
by Abu Dhabi Oil Co Ltd Japan (ADOC), and its SPM can handle tankers up to
330,000 deadweight tons (DWT).
Similar
to Zirkuh, Mubarraz Island is an industrial site. While not
intended for tourism, it offers scenic sea views and glimpses of offshore oil
operations. The island itself is home to around 300 personnel and features a
surprising array of recreational amenities, including a soccer ground, tennis
courts, and even a golf course.
Mubarraz
Island isn't a destination for nightlife or shopping, but you can appreciate
the tranquility of the surrounding waters and witness the impressive operations
of oil tankers.
