Rudum Terminal
Rudum Terminal, a small port in Yemen's Shabwa region, might
not be a tourist destination, but it plays a vital role in the country's
infrastructure. Situated on the Gulf of
Aden, this port serves as a critical point for crude oil transport.
Though seemingly bare and isolated, Rudum
boasts five massive crude oil storage tanks, each holding an impressive 150,000
barrels. Just offshore, an SBM (Single
Buoy Mooring) allows oil tankers to dock and transfer cargo via hoses.
While the rugged beauty of the Yemeni
coastline and the Gulf of Aden can be enjoyed here, Rudum lacks the facilities
typically found in larger ports. The
Shabwah-Bir Ali pipeline feeds the terminal, handling up to 135,000 barrels per
day. Due to the regional situation, safety is paramount. Always stay informed
about local conditions before visiting.
