Hamrawein
Hamrawein, an up-and-coming
destination on the central Red Sea coast, offers a glimpse into Egypt's
development. Situated approximately 60 kilometers south of Safaga and 120
kilometers south of Hurghada, this town is poised for significant growth.
Currently, Hamrawein functions primarily
as a mining port, handling the export of mineral resources like phosphate and
quartz. It's also home to Egypt's first coal-fired power plant, showcasing the
country's commitment to clean energy production. Plans are underway for another
clean coal plant and to supply electricity to the entire Sinai region.
While Hamrawein itself lacks major
tourist attractions and has a quiet atmosphere, its coastal charm and proximity
to the Red Sea make it an interesting stop for travelers seeking an
off-the-beaten-path experience. Nearby cities offer more nightlife options for
those seeking a livelier scene.
