Edinburgh Of The Seven Seas, Settlement Of Edinburgh
Edinburgh of the Seven Seas,
nestled on the island of Tristan da Cunha, is the only settlement in this
remote part of the South Atlantic Ocean.
It's also known locally as "The
Settlement" or "The
Village." Founded in 1816, it served as a British military
garrison during Napoleon's exile on Saint Helena.
Today, Edinburgh of the Seven Seas offers a glimpse into a
unique island life. Prince Philip Hall serves
as the village's social hub, and The Albatross Bar is
a great place to meet the friendly locals.
The post office allows you to send postcards with unique Tristan
da Cunha stamps, and the Handicrafts and Souvenir Shop offers
mementos of your visit. While nightlife options are limited, the charm of this
remote community lies in its peaceful atmosphere and genuine hospitality.
