M'bya Oil Terminal
The
M'bya Oil Terminal, located 5 miles west-southwest of
Pointe Tshibobo in Gabon, is an offshore loading facility associated with the
Lucina and M'Bya Oil Fields. The terminal features a Floating Storage and
Offloading (FSO) unit named "Mayumba" moored in 28 meters of water,
surrounded by production platforms. Tankers can berth with the FSO,
accommodating vessels up to 150,000 deadweight tons.
While
the M'bya Terminal's function is industrial, the nearby town of Mayumba offers
a haven of natural beauty and coastal charm. Explore the pristine beaches, lush
forests, and diverse wildlife within Mayumba National Park.
During June to September, keep an eye out for migrating humpback whales off the
coast. Unfortunately, there are no specific shopping or nightlife options
directly at the terminal, but venturing to Mayumba or other Gabonese towns will
provide those experiences.
