Tuapse, a town
situated on the Black Sea's northeastern shore, is a key transport hub
connecting Sochi by land and serving as a crucial export point for oil and
fertilizer. Its population is
approximately 61,571. Tuapse boasts
ancient roots as part of historical Circassia, becoming a part of Russia under
Tsar Alexander I. The modern settlement dates back to the establishment of the Russian fort
Velyaminovsky in 1838.
