Stratoni
Stratoni, a
picturesque village on Chalkidiki's northeastern coast, boasts a rich history
dating back to 600 BC. Previously known as Stratonicea, the area was
renowned for its mines. Modern Stratoni emerged in the 19th century, initially settled
by miners. The arrival of refugees from Asia Minor after the Asia Minor
Disaster further increased the population. Mining remains an important
occupation for Stratoni's residents even today.
