Sibenik, Sebenico
Šibenik, a historic
town in central Dalmatia, Croatia, boasts a unique location where the Krka River meets the
Adriatic Sea. Founded in 1066, Šibenik holds the distinction of being the oldest Croatian town on the Adriatic
coast. Sometimes referred to as "Krešimir's Town" due to its
historical significance, Šibenik's name holds multiple interpretations. One theory links it to a
palisade made of "šibe" (sticks), while another suggests it derives from the
Latin toponym "Sibinicum."
