Porto Di Malamocco
Malamocco, a
captivating village steeped in history, rests on the Lido of Venice, south of the
island's center. It predates Venice itself, boasting origins dating back to
Roman times. Malamocco once served as the port of Padua and was
connected by the River Medoacus Maior (today's Brenta). Sometimes mistaken for
the early settlement of Metamaucum, Malamocco offers a unique historical perspective.
Explore the Church of
Santa Maria Assunta, a testament to Malamocco's past. Soak in beautiful views
of Venice across the lagoon. Wander the narrow streets where Venetians live,
savoring the local atmosphere with a stop at a bar or pizzeria. While nightlife
may be quieter here, Malamocco offers a peaceful and authentic escape from the crowds of Venice
proper.
