Calcite
Calcite, is an
abandoned coal mining town located in Fremont County, Colorado. Founded to
serve the Colorado Fuel & Iron company, the
town is no longer inhabited.
Despite
its past, Calcite offers interesting historical attractions. The
nearby Wind Cave National Park is known for its extensive
calcite formations, and Yellowstone National Park also
features the Calcite Springs Overlook, offering breathtaking views
of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.
