Brixham Harbour
Brixham
Harbour, situated on the southern coast of Tor Bay, boasts a
rich maritime heritage and the distinction of being home to one of the largest
fishing fleets in the UK. Over 100 fishing boats land their catches daily,
offering fresh seafood at the local Fish Market on the quayside. The
harbor itself is divided into two sections: the Inner Harbour and the Outer Harbour.
The Inner Harbour provides safe
haven for smaller vessels with trot moorings suitable for boats up to 35 feet.
History buffs will be delighted by the replica of Sir Francis Drake's famed ship,
the Golden
Hind,
permanently moored here as a museum ship. The nearby Old Market House, a Grade
II listed
building transformed into a restaurant, adds to the historical charm.
The Outer Harbour caters to
larger vessels, offering deepwater swing moorings for boats up to 70 feet in
length. This area bustles with activity as fishing vessels come and go.
