Fenit
Fenit, a small
village nestled on the north side of Tralee Bay in County Kerry, boasts a
population of around 620 residents.
History buffs will be enthralled to learn that Fenit is the
birthplace of St. Brendan the Navigator, honored by a large
bronze monument in the harbor area. Legend has it that Brendan may have
reached the Americas before Christopher Columbus. Fenit also serves
as the only commercial port between Foynes on the River Shannon
and Cork. Explore the nearby Blennerville
Windmill, a historic landmark offering guided tours and insights into
traditional milling techniques. While Fenit itself
doesn't have extensive nightlife options, Tralee, just a short
distance away, offers a vibrant scene. Head to The Castle Bar, a popular
spot known for good company and drinks.
