Hansweert
Hansweert is located on the Zuid-Beveland peninsula in the
municipality of Reimerswaal, Zeeland. The village has a rich
history, first mentioned in 1353, and was once notable for the Hansweert-Walsoorden ferry connecting it to Walsoorden in Zeelandic Flanders. The Canal through Zuid-Beveland, opened in 1866, brought
commercial traffic and prosperity to Hansweert. Despite changes due to the Scheldt–Rhine Canal, the village maintains an active community life. Key
attractions include the historic Sluizen Hansweert, which played a crucial role in shipping between Rotterdam and Antwerp, and the charming Onze-Lieve-Vrouw
Onbevlekt Ontvangen Church. For shopping, locals visit SPAR Hak for essentials and the Frites Boutique for tasty snacks. Hansweert’s nightlife is quiet, but
nearby cities like Bergen op Zoom offer spots like the Royal Lounge Montana, Bar Goed, Prove2wine in Kloetinge, and F.D. Roosevelt Whiskybar
& Club for whisky enthusiasts.
