Brevik
Brevik, a town
in Porsgrunn Municipality, Telemark County, boasts
a unique charm. Nicknamed one of Norway's
best-preserved sailing ship era towns, Brevik's
narrow, winding streets are lined with interesting, irregular buildings. Located where the Eidangerfjorden
and Frierfjorden meet, forming the Breviksfjorden,
Brevik was once a prominent export
center for ice and timber. The town offers a glimpse into the past with its
town hall, an old farm estate, and Brevik Church
situated on Sylterøya Island. Beyond its historical appeal, Brevik
is a center of industry, including Norway's
largest cement factory and mine.
