Korsnes
Korsnes, also known as Hierenjárgga in Lule Sami, is a village nestled within
the Hamarøy municipality of Nordland county, Norway. The village resides approximately 5
kilometers north of Bognes, gracing the western shore of the Tysfjorden. A prominent landmark, Korsnes Church, graces the village center.
History
buffs will be fascinated by the Korsnes Museum. This former communications center, dating
back to the 18th and 19th centuries, once served as a trading post, post
office, telegraph station, and even a stop for steamships. A short hike from Korsnes leads to Leiknes, a neighboring farm and the
location of a famous rock art field dating back 8,000 to 10,000 years!
While
Korsnes offers a peaceful
atmosphere, the nearby city of Narvik pulsates with nightlife options. For shopping needs, look no further than the
nearby Narvik region, with local grocery
stores like Joker
Storjord and Matkroken Storjord to cater to your essentials.
