Funter
Funter Bay: Located on Admiralty
Island's western side, Funter Bay is a picturesque inlet spanning two miles
long. This bay offers breathtaking views and attracts fishing enthusiasts seeking a
chance to cast their lines.
Beyond its scenic beauty, Funter Bay carries
historical significance. During World War II, it served as
a relocation site for Aleutian communities, forced to move 1500 miles from their homes
to internment camps. Today, Funter Bay Seaplane Base, a state-owned public
facility, caters to those arriving by seaplane.
